3 Days in Liverpool - A Fun and Friendly City Just Waiting to Give you a Big Hug

I wasn’t sure quite what to expect from our trip to Liverpool.  A Northern City – in November – Brrrr?   It could be wet, it could be cold, it could be grey and dull – one museum after another to shelter from the freezing rain …?

Well – I needn’t have worried one bit.  Liverpool is a fun and friendly city with wide open arms just waiting to give you a great big hug.

If you are short of time to put together your own itinerary, I hope this will take some of the hard work out of it for you.  All the links to everywhere we visited during our 3 days in Liverpool are there to make booking up your own visit really easy.  So what are you waiting for?  Enjoy!

When to Go

There is so much to see and do here that 3 days in Liverpool wasn’t really enough.  Visiting in early November was a great plan, as it turned out.  At this time of year, there are few visitors at the main attractions and no queues.  The weather was mild for the time of the year and the rain kept away..

3 Days in Liverpool Liverpool Waterfront

Liverpool is also a beautiful city.  I wasn’t expecting the waterfront to be quite so photogenic, but I could easily come back here with my SLR camera in hand and spend much more time wandering through this lively part of the city and capturing it more effectively/creatively.

Where We Stayed

Our base for our 3 Days in Liverpool was Aloft – a well located Marriott hotel right in the city centre.  I would definitely stay there again on a return trip, which is praise indeed. All the places we visited on the itinerary below were easily walkable from this base – perfect!.  Read the Accommodation Review for more details.

3 Day Itinerary

Day 1 - Orientation

We were travelling with another couple on this trip – good friends of ours for many years.  Liverpool is a fun city, so best experienced with some good company.  We travelled in the morning, checked into Aloft just before lunch and used our first afternoon to get our bearings and orientate ourselves.

Lunch - Lucy in the Sky Café

Try their traditional Liverpool Scouse – read Day 1 for further details!

Liverpool isn’t all about the Beatles – far from it – but they are such a huge part of this city’s history that devoting a day to their story seems appropriate.  If you are a fan – as I am – and already know their story, then just making your pilgrimage is surely worth a day of your valuable time?
