Today, our long awaited trip to New Zealand begins. Our 4 week Self-Drive New Zealand Road Trip Itinerary begins in North Island then moves onto South Island before returning home to the UK via Australia (Sydney) and Dubai.
We are expecting a wide variety of landscape on the trip as the northern part of North Island is subtropical and volcanic whilst the Southern tip of South Island is sub Antarctic.

Fascinating Facts
Once, although there were insects and birds here, there was only one species of mammal here – a small bat. Many of the birds were flightless as there was no exposure to predators.
